About Us

SchreiberLanguage™ is the trademark of the language books published by Schreiber Publishing, Inc.

The company's history dates back to 1981, when Mordecai Schreiber, a professional translator and author of over 40 books, founded Schreiber Translations, Inc., which soon became one of the leading language services companies in the United States. In 1997 Schreiber published The Translator's Handbook, an acclaimed guide for translators used by translators around the world, now in its 6th edition. The book's success prompted the author to establish Schreiber Publishing, a company dedicated to publishing specialized language books and dictionaries for translators, interpreters, writers, editors, and language students.

Schreiber's language books include a series of self-training books for translators in all leading languages and in all major technical translation areas, such as law, medicine, commerce, and business. It also includes a series of business dictionaries in the world's top ten business languages. In recent years, a special attention has been paid to Spanish-English dictionaries, because of the growing demand for Spanish language books in the United States. One of the popular Schreiber titles in this area has been the Multicultural Spanish Dictionary (how everyday Spanish words differ from country to country), and more recent titles include the Spanish Chemical and Pharmaceutical Glossary.

Recently, Schreiber Publishing has begun to produce dictionaries on CD, including its Spanish Business Dictionary and its French-English Dictionary of Medicine. In addition, Schreiber's dictionaries will be available as e-books and on-line.
